For Fescue Lawns

Our approach in creating a beautiful Fescue, or cool season, lawn will ensure:

  • Customized treatment tailored specifically for your lawn and turfgrass type with higher quality products,
  • A more environmentally friendly approach to lawn care with fewer scheduled applications using slow release fertilizers,
  • A conscious effort to minimize overall pesticide use, while maintaining the quality you expect.

Ensuring that you have a healthy lawn is our top priority. A trained member of our team will conduct periodic site inspections to ensure that we are meeting our high quality standards with your lawn’s performance. Our team will apply nutrients or weed control treatments on an as-needed basis, in addition to your regularly scheduled applications throughout the year.

This customized method differentiates Handy Andy Outdoors from the current one-size-fits-all approach of many of our competitors by focusing on results and environmental impact instead of the number of billable applications.

Our Cool Season Turfgrass Service Schedule

February – Apply granular fertilizer with pre-emergent coating that will improve lawn color, as well as control numerous annual grasses and broadleaf weeds late into the Summer months. This will start the green up process and help strengthen your root systems. The technician will perform a thorough inspection of your lawn to advise on any concerns that need to be addressed.

Late March – Apply liquid fertilizer with pre- and post-emergents that will address any existing weeds, continually feed your turfgrass throughout the growing season, as well as control numerous annual grasses and broadleaf weeds late into the Summer months. This will start the green up process and help strengthen your root systems while reducing the amount of nitrates and pesticides used by traditional lawn companies. The technician will perform a thorough inspection of your lawn to advise on any concerns that need to be addressed.

April/May – Apply micronutrients and post-emergent weed control to help strengthen your lawn’s root system while controlling broadleaf weeds. The micronutrients help your lawn naturally improve the turfgrass cell structure. During this time, the technician will evaluate the lawn for any potential insect damage and target the specific pest(s).  Technician will also be scouting for Brown Patch fungus so we can discuss optional plan of action at an additional cost.

July/August – The technician will scout the lawn and any noticeable grassy and broadleaf weeds will be treated at this time.  Technician will continue scouting for Brown Patch fungus so we can discuss optional plan of action at an additional cost.

September/October – A lime application is applied to balance the PH levels in the soil. Now is the time we recommend aerating and interseeding fescue lawns.

November – Apply fertilizer that will stimulate both root and blade growth, fortifying your turfgrass for cold winter temperatures. The technician will scout the lawn and any noticeable grassy and broadleaf weeds will be treated at this time.

December – Apply slow-release liquid fertilizer with post-emergent weed control that will address any weeds, start the green up process, and help strengthen your root systems.
